I got great news from an “insider” today that the old Ironwood par-3 golf course will re-open under the name of Evergreen. This is a real cute, but challenging, par three course located on Lakewood Blvd, just off of Davis Blvd. in East Naples. This was always a very popular course for winter residents to “warm up” on before paying the big bucks for the regulation size courses. Then for some reason, the owners fell into financial trouble and the course laid dorment for several years. A local golf superintendent has bought the course, waded through permits and irrigation challenges and has re-opened the course for play as of today. He only has temporary greens set up at the moment, but I understand the plans are to completely redo the greens and sandtraps in May and add more landscaping.

I’m told the new owners really have their act together and the community is going to be much better off with them in charge of this course. We wish them the very best and if you need some practice…drop 10 bucks for a practice round here and you’ll be better off also.
