Naples News. January 4th

Here’s the latest tidbits from around town in Naples.
- The Naples City Council has ordered beach stickers that wil feature the Naples Pier and prominently display the words “City of Naples” across the top for city residents only. The stickers will be free to any Naples resident and will replace the Collier County beach sticker previously given out at City Hall. Non-city residents will still use the county stickers.
- Learn about the Collier County Sheriff’s office by participating in a six-week citizens academy. Get the 2008 schedule by calling 239-793-9145.
- Visit www.colliergov.net to view video-on-demand of the Collier County Commision meetings.
- News from the Waterside Shops is good. The new 550 parking space structure is complete with another 330 coming by September. This second structure will connect to the new Nordstrom’s department store scheduled to open in November of 2008.
- This is nice. A new plasma screen in the surgery family waiting room at the NCH Downtown Naples Hospital allows families to track a patient’s movement. Using software linked to the pre-operative unit, the operating room and recovery unit, the 50-inch screen shows when a patient will be taken into the pre-operative unit, when he or she has gone into surgery, when surgery is complete and when the patient has been moved to recovery.
