Naples news update for October 2, 2007
Came across a few tidbits that may be helpful for you to know.
Effective Jan. 1, 2008 motorists will have the option to renew their vehicle registration for a period of two years instead of just one. This provision also applies to boats and mobile homes.
There’s a new fiber optic system installed in Collier County libraries that will bring increased internet speed and the ability to add more computers.
Southwest Florida International Airport posted record passenger levels for 11 straight months. The figues for the first four months of 2007 were up 8.5% compared to a national average of 2.2%. People love coming to Naples.
Reservations are now being taken through the Naples travel agency of Betty Maclean Travel for the first flight to outer space. The first flight is expected to be at the end of 2009. You can travel in a rocket about two and half hours at a top speed of 2,500 miles per hour as high as 75 miles above the Earth. All this for a cost of $200,000.
If flying to outer space is too “out there” for you, then you might enjoy the new artificial reef located nine miles off the Caxambas Pass. The 2,000 tone reef is about 35-40 feet below the surface and should provide a good enviornment for fishing.
Think about relaxing to some cool jazz at the Jazz on the Green. It will be a two day event on Oct 27th and 28th. Check it out at the Estero Community Park.
That’s all for now.
