A few things have crossed my desk that concerns Naples and I thought you might want to know about.
- Big Cypress Winery has partnered with Florida grape growers and wine makers to create a retail, tourist and education destination at Big Cypress Market Place on East Tamiami Trail. A demonstration vineyard for the winery is being jointly developed by the winery and Gordon Skrede, owner of the Garden of Eaten in Naples. The winery will offer a variety of domestic and international wines, made-on-premise wines, custom labeling, wine-paired cheeses and breads, and wine accessories. Big Cypress Market Place, U.S. 41 four miles east of Collier Boulevard, is scheduled to open in mid-March.
- The von Liebig Art Center in Naples announced an exhibit of Brynn Bruijn, photographer, from March 8th to April 27th. The exhibit will display photos of Bruijn’s life’s work from Africa, China, Europe, Russia and Tibet. The name of the exhibit will be Curiouser & Curiouser: The Photographic Adventures of Brynn Bruijn.
- New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Karen Harper, a local favorite, will discuss and sign copies of her latest romantic suspense novel, Below the Surface, which is set right here in Naples and focuses on the the health of the Gulf of Mexico.
- On March the 12th, the fourth Annual Marine Corps League Honor the Free Press Day will be held at the Naples Hilton to honor author and journalist James Brady.
- If you have anything you want to give away, think about the Habitat for Humanity of Collier County. Their Home Store is located at 11127 Tamiami Trail East. They have free pick-up, so call 239-732-6388 to help them out.
