Naples Tidbits for October 3, 2007

We have a new addition to our team to announce. Parker Jules Bethem was brought into this world at 8:02 this morning weighing 7 lb 13 oz. Mother and son are doing well. Congratulations to Blake and Aby.

  • In other news, the Naples Police and Emergency Services Department report a 12 percent decrease in crime the first six months of 2007 when compared to the same period last year.
  • The Naples Community Hospital Healthcare System was named one of the top 100 hospitals nationwide for perforance improvement over five consecutive years.
  • The ACE Group Classic recently announced its 2008 event will be held Feb. 11-17 at Quail West Golf and Country Club. Volunteers are needed and you may get information by calling 239-593-3900, ext. 221 or visit www.acegroupclassic.com.
  • This year’s annual “Ding” Darling Days, featuring, birding, guided tours and nature cruises will be held October 8-14. Call Tarpon Bay Explorers at 239-472-8900.
  • The Ave Maria University’s Visitor Center is now open. Located in the town’s center. Travel about 10 miles east on Immokalee Road from I-75. Turn onto Oil Well Road and travel approximately another 10 miles to the entrance to Ave Maria. The beautifully designed church sits in the center of plaza. It’s worth the trip.
