Where the buffalo roam. Ted’s Montana Grill

Okay, I may not always eat “out of the perverbial box” but every now and then I throw caution to the wind and mix things up a bit. It must have been a full moon, that’s about the only reason I can explain for my spontaneous “yes, let’s try it” when my husband Rick suggested Ted’s Montana Grill at Coconut Point in Estero. Although they have a convenient Naples location too at the Coastland Mall for all you Neopolitans out there.
Back to the meal: Now, before I start you may reach your conclusion quickly that I really didn’t eat so much “out of the box” as much as perhaps nibled, BUT, I did try something different and for that, I’m glad I did.
Rick had the Bison Meatloaf with Aunt Fannie’s squash casserole with garlic mashed potatoes. I had the Beer Can Chicken. Mine was good, okay actually. A little dry but it had good herb flavoring with neighbors of garlic mashed and the squash casserole. So, here’s the part where I think I ate “out of the box” — I tried Rick’s bison meatloaf and it actually was very tasty. It had a bit of a different flavor that couldn’t be identified, but I assumed that was the taste of the bison. It was extremely moist and they surprisingly gave him a good sized man’s portion. For red meat lovers (which I’m not) it’s a great alternative to the high fat content in most red meats. It has almost no fat but yet it is still very tasty.
Whatever your preference is, you’ll find it at Teds. Everything is prepared in a transfat free cooking oil, and, they actually tell you on the menu how many free refills you get with your choice of refreshments…before you ask, no, there are no beer refills. But, with their great standard menu selection, plus, daily Blue Plate Specials and really good prices, you’d be a fool not to try this new eatery. Oh, and don’t let his ex-wife stand in your way, so he made a mistake, we all do. Go and enjoy, we’re going back and back and back and back…….
