Zizi at Bellasera. Where’s the turkey?

Having our first visit to Zizi at Bellasera on 9th St N on Thanksgiving, left us hungry and disappointed.  I thought they had a good reputation for their dining room but a major holiday is not the time you want to find out whether or not a restaurant meets your standards.

The hot items of the buffet were in the lobby where everytime someone came in from outside, the cool air swished over the hot items.  Of course, most often the lids were left in the open position so that may have contributed to the lukewarm to cool menu items.  Speaking of menu items, most lacked  seasoning and left me wondering what I had to do to get a tasty dinner.  After telling the wait staff, new trays of food were put in and they were a little warmer but nothing that would constitute a “warm meal.”

Not being a pumpkin pie eater, or traditional Thanksgiving desert lover, I skipped over the deserts but did get a small slice of chocolate cake which was very, very dry.  My husband, who’ll eat just about any pumpkin pie, decided his two bites were enough.  Apparently, that had no taste and was quite disappointing as well.  Even with booking the reservations 2 weeks in advance, we still ended up at the door to the kitchen!  This holiday was not one for the record books as being memorable or delicious. Next year, we’re trying the restaurant prior to a holiday!
